Interesting Week This Has Been
08/27/2006 02:34 AM (GMT)

Well, not much happened on the project this week. Sometimes real life must get in the way. Not to worry though, time was spent thinking about it on my drive home from work this past week and I may have made it worse on myself!

As I stated last week, the key to getting off to a good start is to have a good "visual" of what you want to accomplish...well...I thought I had! The part I'm struggling with is the theme. The main amusement park and water park are pretty straight forward. It’s the third park that is driving me crazy! I want to build a Six Flags Marine World type park but I don't want to use the same "concept" as the real thing. Yes I want the shows and rides, but I want to give it it's own style. The problem is, How do I tie ...

Project Triple X
08/22/2006 03:47 AM (GMT)

Well after a few weeks of planning and getting a clear picture of what I want to accomplish and more importantly, how I'm going to accomplish it, construction is in full swing on project: Triple X

I guess this is where I share my first bit of experience with large scale projects. Over the years with working with the RCT Masters and now with RCT Fusion, I have learned to not jump in and start building on a map. I take my time and not even open RCT2 during this phase. This planning includes sketches, notes, what I want to include, potential styles/themes, etc. This is a phase that can not be rushed so take your time. Once you have the high level planning completed, the actual building of the maps goes pretty smoothly.

That brings me ...

Not Off To A Good Start
08/13/2006 03:19 PM (GMT)

Well after deciding to complete a fresh reload of our PC, I spent an hour or so backing up all the non data files we had to get ready for it. Everything went very well and I was back up in a matter of a few hours. In the process I decided to get rid of a lot of old "working" maps I had created of the years. Unfortunately I removed the map I was working on. The only good news is that I only had spent an hour or so on it so it was no great loss. The real bad new is that when I went in and started over, I noticed that my small object list is too large and now must go in and do some additional house cleaning. Oh well.

As for the park, the plans are coming together in mind (which is very scary in itself). I've decided to build off the latest ...

Let The Fun Begin!
08/11/2006 04:17 AM (GMT)

Hello all!

Well after many months of various RCT stuff (designs, h2h4 & structures), it's time to build another solo!

The significant difference this time is I'm going to take you all along in the process. Most designers hold their parks tight to their chest and not reveal too much, however, I'm going to let you all in on the thought process that I go through in building my parks. By no means is this the only way to build a park as there are many great designers out there that take it to the next level but I hope that this helps some of you with your parks. I will try to share as much info as I can with you during this process. Please feel free to ask questions or share your ideas as the park goes along.

In the next few ...
